In any system implementation, mapping as-is and to-be processes and understanding how the new system will impact people, processes, roles and ways of working is key to developing a targeted change management strategy. Using this approach, we supported our client in rolling out a new workforce management system.
The Challenge
Our client wanted to improve productivity and reduce labour costs through effective workforce management systems, processes and ways of working. A scheduling and timekeeping system, combined with new processes and ways of working enabled this change.
Our Solution
After mapping the as-is and to-be processes and understanding how the new system would impact people, processes, roles and ways of working, we developed a targeted change management strategy, plans and supporting materials required to roll-out to multiple locations in South Africa and Namibia. We then equipped a network of change agents with a transition plan and toolkit to roll out the new system, processes and ways of working nationally.
Often it makes sense to bring in experienced change managers with a dedicated focus, to get the job done, than to use part-time internal resources.
The Outcome
Our client, with our assistance, established the necessary change support structures in the organisation to manage future changes. In addition, staff expressed positive feedback on the strategy engagement process, really valuing the approach the organisation took to ensuring everyone understood what it meant for the organisation, teams and individuals.
